Order Details CH2 and CH3 are pediatric medical/surgical units that provide care directed to meet the needs of patients ages 15 days through 18 years, with the flexibility to provide care that meets the needs of any pediatric patient. Patients 19 through 21 years of age who are followed by a Pediatric specialty service may be admitted to either unit, and infants under 15 days of age can be cared for after discussion with the attending Neonatologist covering the NICU. We are a children s hospital within an adult hospital, and each unit is a secure unit with 18 private beds. We look for candidates who have Pediatric trauma, neurology, neuro-surg, orthopedic, endocrine, infectious disease, urology, nephrology, ENT, GI, pulmonary, psych, and med-surg experience (we admit patients from almost 30 disciplines). Pediatric patients with burns are the only patients we do not provide care for. The candidate should have experience with chest tubes, care of new trachs, high flow O2 (and other treatments for acute respiratory distress), administering IVIG and blood products, etc. Our typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 on day shift and evening shift, and 1:3-4 on night shift. This is dependent on patient acuity and therefore may be higher or lower at times. We need someone who embraces the culture of family-centered care, and will be a strong patient and family advocate. We do bedside shift report and multi-disciplinary family-centered rounds, including the patient and family in all aspects of care. We need someone who is accountable and has integrity. The candidate should possess strong clinical skills and work well with all care team members will be expected to participate in the daily family centered rounds. Our leadership team is composed of an Operations Manager, 4 Team Coordinators (2 per unit), and 1 Nurse Educator. CPN is preferred.
